Silver Palace characters grow on four tracks: Insight level, Potential Break ascension, Methods skill levels, and six Psyches unlocked with duplicate copies, which also pay out Mind Shards. Everything below comes from the Dichotomy beta (CBT2, July to August 2026), read off creator footage. Silver Palace launches on 14 December 2026 (UTC+8), and Elementa can still change any cost or cap before then.
Updated 31 October 2026: this guide replaces the July placeholder. Our earlier text called the duplicate reward a "Trait"; the beta client names it a Psyche.
How does character progression work in Silver Palace?
Blue Screen Of Tech walks through the whole character menu in their CBT2 breakdown. The left rail has five areas: the Identity page (level and stats), Motives, Implements and Epiphany, Methods (skills) and Psyche. Here is what each progression track is called in the client and what feeds it.
| Track | In-game name | What it raises | What it costs | Where the materials come from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Level | Insight (Level Up) | HP, ATK, DEF | The Science of All Things books | Vitality stages, shops, events |
| Ascension | Potential Break | The level cap | Potential Break Material | Potential Exploration stages |
| Skills | Methods | Skill damage and effects | Methods Study Materials, Methods Study Essentials, Twin Argent Strands | Method Mastery, Case Review, Info Exchange |
| Duplicates | Psyche | New effects, one per copy | One copy of the character per Psyche | Gacha |
| Duplicate overflow | Mind Shards | Shots and Mystery items | Duplicates | Gacha |
The stage names come from the Agenda Challenges tab in Shrike's gear video (4:45): Daily Routine, Potential Exploration, Implement Overhaul, Method Mastery and Case Review, each costing 40 Vitality per run in that build.
What are Psyches in Silver Palace?
A Psyche is a duplicate upgrade: every character has six, and each one is unlocked by one extra copy of that character. GxG Noir compares them to Genshin Impact's Constellations at 5:30 and adds the arithmetic: six Psyches means seven copies in total to max a character.

The Detective's six Psyches, as listed on screen:
| Psyche | Name |
|---|---|
| I | Detectives' Golden Age |
| II | Crow Flies the Nest |
| III | Falling From the Heights |
| IV | Defying Gravity |
| V | True Reflections |
| VI | Thought and Memory |
Psyche I reads: "Upon using Tactical Assault, the Detective gains 3 Ammunition, and the DMG of their next 2 Charged Skills is increased by 10%." Blue Screen Of Tech summarises the next two at 3:11 to 3:21: Psyche II raises the Detective's ATK by 13%, and Psyche III boosts his Tactical Assault or skill once a target is marked.
Their point is that these are not flat stat bumps. "Unlike other games where you awaken your hero, and then it does a general stat bonus, there's actually multiple awaken levels here, and each one is going to do something different." Rexlent shows the same screen at 8:02 of their endgame video: duplicates go in, effects come out.
Psyche effects can change how a kit plays. Fan-compiled data, for example, puts a "Fulmen Resonance increases by 100" line on one of Rex's Psyches. We have not seen that screen in footage, so treat it as a cross-check only.
What are Mind Shards in Silver Palace?
Mind Shards are what a duplicate pays in addition to the Psyche. Hako says at 4:45 of a CBT2 gacha video that "if you pull duplicates, you get resources that you can buy pulls for." The exact rates come from press and fan-compiled data, not from a frame we have:
| Duplicate | Mind Shards (beta, reported) |
|---|---|
| First copy of a 5-star character | 20 |
| 5-star copies 2 to 7 (each also unlocks a Psyche) | 20 each |
| 5-star copy 8 and later | 50 each |
| 4-star copies 2 to 7 | 4 each |
| 4-star copy 8 and later | 10 each |
In the Argent Docks Shard Exchange, 12 Mind Shards buy one Shot of any banner type and 90 buy a character's "Mystery" item, limited to 2 in stock. Treat the whole table as reported beta data. Our gacha guide covers the banners these Shots go into.
How do you level up characters in Silver Palace?
Levels are called Insight. On the Identity page you pick experience books, or press Auto-Place, then Level Up. Blue Screen Of Tech shows the panel at 0:40 with their books used up.

The books are a series called The Science of All Things. Pyrrh's shop footage shows Volume II for sale at 300 (stock 50 of 50), and the 20 million pre-registration milestone, if reached, pays The Science of All Things: Volume III x10. Pyrrh's advice at 2:51: spend Vitality every day on experience and leveling materials, starting with the Detective, and never let it cap.
How does Potential Break (ascension) work?
Potential Break is Silver Palace's ascension: when a character hits their level cap, the Potential Break button raises it. Blue Screen Of Tech says at 0:29 that their Detective "was at 30, so I had to do a potential break just recently in order to keep moving up."

The six diamonds under the level count the breaks. Three frames line them up:
| Footage | Level | Diamonds lit |
|---|---|---|
| Blue Screen Of Tech, before their break | cap 30 | (not shown) |
| Scion Storm, 0:30 | 40/40 | 2 of 6 |
| Rexlent, 1:12 | 60/60 | 4 of 6 |
That pattern fits a cap of 20 plus 10 per break, which would put six breaks at level 80. This is our arithmetic from beta frames, not a number any creator or Elementa has stated. The break materials drop from the Potential Exploration stages. Fan-compiled data says they are concentrates matched to the character's Reactor Attribute, so an Ignis character and a Glacies character farm different stages.
How do skill levels (Methods) work in Silver Palace?
Skills are called Methods, and the screen is Character Methods. Rexlent explains the tree at 5:47 to 7:47. Every character has five bottom nodes in the same order: Basic Attack, Skill, Ultimate, Tactical Assault and Passive. The first four go from level 1 to 10. The passive has a single level.

Above each skill sit smaller attribute nodes. Rexlent says "the last ones are usually really good", pointing to a +25% CRIT DMG node on Red Rose. Some are gated by level, like this one on Bentham.

The cost curve is where planning starts. Bentham's tree in Rexlent's footage reads 9/10, 9/10, 10/10, 7/10 and 1/1, and her Spot Check skill at level 9 costs 9,850, against 2,325 for the Detective's level 2 Raven Slayer.

Rexlent breaks down the materials at 7:10 to 7:55:
- Common skill items come from world stages that cost Vitality (Method Mastery in the Agenda).
- Boss materials (Methods Study Essentials) come from Case Review. You can fight the bosses as often as you like, but claim rewards once a day, about five items a day at the highest CBT2 tier. Pyrrh says the same at 3:00.
- Twin Argent Strands are needed for level 9 to 10, and nothing else replaces them.
What are Twin Argent Strands and how do you get them?
Twin Argent Strands are the rarest progression item in the beta: one per month, needed to take a skill from level 9 to 10. Pyrrh calls them "the most limited resource in the game so far" at 5:21 and compares them to Genshin's Crown.

They are bought in the Info Exchange with Antique Coins, which Pyrrh says come mainly from City Property, the real-estate minigame. Its Assistant feature also pays pull resources every 12 hours. Rexlent calls the Strands "time gated" and earned from "passive gameplay." At one a month, the honest advice is to spend each one on your main damage dealer's most-used skill. That is our suggestion, not a creator's.
What should you upgrade first?
Based on what the beta footage shows, a sensible order for a new account:
- Level and Potential Break your main DPS first. Base stats and the level 30 attribute nodes both depend on level.
- Raise Skill and Ultimate Methods to 9 on that character. Rexlent says the daily boss cap lets you get "all your favorite characters to level 9 at the very least."
- Claim Case Review daily, even if you do nothing else (Pyrrh, 3:00).
- Save Twin Argent Strands for the one skill that carries your damage.
- Treat Psyches as a bonus. They depend on duplicates, which depend on the gacha.
For who to build, the tier list ranks the beta roster. For what each stat does once you have raised it, read Character Stats.
What about Motives, Implements and Catalysts?
Gear is a separate layer with its own upgrades:
- Motives (the weapon slot) level up with Amplify and get stronger from duplicates with Resonate. Blue Screen Of Tech's Motive was "maxed out at level 20" in their beta footage. See Motives.
- Implements are four fixed-stat pieces plus one Epiphany, the only gear with random substats. See Implements.
- Catalysts go into each character's Reactor, three per character, and fire on Tactical Assault. See Catalysts.
New players should start with the beginner guide, which covers the first days of Vitality and Free Time.

Frequently asked questions
5 answers, always open
- What are Psyches in Silver Palace?
- Psyches are Silver Palace's duplicate upgrades. Every character has six, and each is awakened with one extra copy of that character, so seven copies max a character. Each Psyche adds a different effect: the Detective's Psyche I, Detectives' Golden Age, gives 3 Ammunition on Tactical Assault and +10% DMG to his next 2 Charged Skills. This is Dichotomy beta data (July to August 2026).
- What are Mind Shards in Silver Palace?
- Mind Shards are the currency duplicates pay out. Press and fan-compiled beta data report 20 per duplicate 5-star (50 from the 8th copy) and 4 per duplicate 4-star (10 from the 8th copy). In the Argent Docks Shard Exchange, 12 Mind Shards buy one Shot and 90 buy a character's Mystery item, limited to 2. These are beta numbers as of 31 October 2026.
- How does ascension work in Silver Palace?
- Ascension is called Potential Break. When a character reaches their level cap, the Potential Break button on the Identity screen raises it, using Potential Break Material from the Potential Exploration stages. In beta footage a level 40 cap showed 2 of 6 break diamonds lit and a level 60 cap showed 4 of 6. A final cap of 80 is our arithmetic, not a confirmed number.
- How do you level skills in Silver Palace?
- Skills are called Methods. Basic Attack, Skill, Ultimate and Tactical Assault each go from level 1 to 10, and the passive has one level. Common materials come from Method Mastery stages, boss materials from Case Review once a day, and the step from level 9 to 10 needs Twin Argent Strands. This is how the Dichotomy beta worked in summer 2026.
- How do you get Twin Argent Strands in Silver Palace?
- In the Dichotomy beta, Twin Argent Strands were bought in the Info Exchange shop with Antique Coins, which come mainly from City Property. Only one could be bought per month, at 50,000. They are needed to raise a skill from level 9 to 10, which makes them the scarcest progression item. Launch amounts may differ; the game releases on 14 December 2026.
